I'm a guitarist from southern CA and have been playing guitar since the age of 16. As soon as I heard players like Tommy Emmanuel, the ability to play entire compositions on just 6 strings captivated me. My primary focus has been with the acoustic guitar within the genre known as "fingerstyle".
What you'll do

Learn an Intermediate Fingerstyle Progression in 60 minutes!

Each week will be a note for note breakdown of a new Fingerstyle progression or song. Feel free to ask questions along the way as it is the goal to be able to play it (or at least have a good grasp of it) by the end of the lesson!

Learn the Techniques Involved in Fingerstyle Guitar

Proper technique is important to being able to play Fingerstyle guitar fluently! We'll cover the basics as well as some intricate challenges that come up depending on the song we cover. I'll also speak about the little nuances that a lot of people miss. These things will take your Fingerstyle playing from sounding basic to sounding incredibly tasteful just by making some small adjustments.

Learn the Basic Theory Behind the Progression

We'll cover the basic theory needed to understand the song we're learning. I'll be talking about concepts from the CAGED system, referencing key signatures, time signatures, melody, harmony and more.

Who you are
You should be able to play basic chords and bar chords up and down the neck, switching smoothly between chord changes. You should also have a good grasp of right hand fingerpicking using your thumb, index, middle and ring fingers instead of using a flat pick.
What to bring
Your acoustic guitar and a determination to learn new songs!
